5 Ways to Relax After Your Move

Moving is exhausting--the last thing you want to do when the movers leave is unpack! While it’s not a good idea to procrastinate for too long, don’t feel guilty about taking it easy the first night in your new home. Leave the boxes until tomorrow and consider the following ways to relax post-move!

Order takeout

You may be unfamiliar with the local takeout restaurants in your new town, but a quick google search on your smartphone will provide you with telephone numbers of your favourite order-in cuisine. Whether you're in the mood for Chinese, pizza, sandwiches, sushi, or Thai, all it takes is a quick phone call for delicious comfort food to arrive at your doorstep.

Watch a movie
If you don’t have the cable hooked up yet, set up your television and DVD player to enjoy your favorite movie. If you don’t feel like searching through boxes of unpacked DVDs, log in to Netflix or other streaming service and watch a flick on your laptop or tablet instead.

Go shopping
Need new curtains or throw rugs? Are you planning any remodeling projects? Need an accent table or a few decorative pillows? If you have a passion for decorating or retail therapy, browse home goods stores or websites for ideas on how to fix up your new place.

Invite friends over
If you moved solo, you may want some company your first night in your new home. Call over a few friends, get some beer and order a pizza for a relaxing evening in. Maybe they’ll even help out with some of the unpacking!

Dine out in your new town
If you aren’t exhausted, you may enjoy exploring your new town. Take your family, significant other or roommate to have a meal at a nearby restaurant, sip a cocktail at the neighbourhood pub, or indulge in a treat at a nearby ice cream parlour. You may discover a new favourite hangout!
