Avoid Trump in Canada

Much to the chagrin of half the American population, Donald Trump has won the United States presidency and some Americans are making good on their threats to move to Canada. So much so that you all even managed to crash our Citizenship and Immigration website the night of the election. Well, we've made some space for you folks and expect to have full reservations very soon. Before you decide to settle down in your new homes, however, here some places you should consider if you want to avoid the Trump-like areas you're trying to currently escape from.

Nelson, B.C.

This mountain town close to the U.S. border was discovered post-Vietnam war. A quaint town sure to alleviate any post-traumatic-Trump symptoms you may have. May even find some long-lost relatives here enjoying the aesthetics.

Regina, Saskatchewan

The inception of Obamacare occurred here, fun fact. Already the Democrats are interested. Hey, we also love football here! Granted its Canadian football with three downs, played on a huge soccer field, but you're adaptable, right?

Muskoka, Ontario

Drake is not from here; we're not sure who started that rumor. But it's still a great place to settle down and watch your country regret its new President-elect! Plus a lot of your famous celebrities vacation here for the lakes and relaxation.

Rivière-du-Loup, Quebec

To you, this would be known as Wolf's River. We don't recommend you ever use its English name around the local residents, though - doesn't roll off the tongue as well. This community is primarily French-speaking, so unless you got at least a B+ in French class, totally wouldn't recommend making this your new home. Also, there is a delicacy on eels to be found here.

Nain, Labrador

This the northernmost permanent settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador. We'd like to emphasize the 'northernmost' part by the way. Plenty of wind, ice, and water to be found here. It may not be the most visited place in Canada, but some serious kite-flying can be done here. Like serious.
