DIY Ideas for Valentine's Day Decor

The most romantic day of the year is right around the corner--if you haven't dressed your home up for the holiday yet, these simple DIY decor ideas will get you in the mood for love in no time!

Paper flowers

Create decorative paper flowers with red and pink construction paper and scissors to scatter across a table, make a bouquet or attach to branches for a lovely centerpiece. You can make blossoms in various colours and sizes by simply drawing a spiral, cutting along the line, and rolling your paper into a beautiful rose! You can also use a little glue or double-sided tape if your flowers are unravelling.

Conversation heart centerpiece
Not a big fan of these chalky holiday candies? While not everyone's favourite treat to eat, conversation hearts are a festive Valentine's Day staple better used for decorating than consuming! Simply place a small vase inside a larger vase, and fill the larger vase with the colourful hearts. Place water and fresh flowers in Valentine's Day shades like pink, red, or purple (or skip the water and use silk blossoms) inside the smaller vase to create a simple V-Day centerpiece!

Crayon hearts
A great DIY decor project to do with your kids, these colourful hearts can be hung anywhere in your home. Cut out hearts of different sizes on heavy duty poster board, melt crayon shavings on wax paper with an iron, use your cardboard hearts to trace the design onto the crayon covered wax paper, and cut them out carefully. Threads the heart with yarn or fishing line to create a mobile, garland, or other decorations to hang around your home!
