Explore These Canadian National Parks This Spring

With temperatures rising, you’ll want to find fun things to do outside. Why not visit one of the more than 40 national parks and reserves in Canada? The number may seem daunting, but here at TopMoving.ca, we picked our three favorite parks to visit. So, grab your camera and binoculars, lace up your hiking books and get ready to explore these amazing national parks.

Banff National Park in Alberta

Banff is the oldest national park and was established in 1885. It's west of Calgary in the province of Alberta. A top attraction in the Baff National Park is the Cave and Basin National Historic Site of Canada. It has interactive displays and exhibits which teach you about Canada’s National Park system. There are also naturally occurring, water mineral springs located inside the cave. The park has a hot springs pool where people have been visiting for more than a decade. If you’re more into biking, you can explore the Banff Legacy trail. There are also a variety of lakes you can explore and kayak in.
  • Lake Minnewank
  • Johnson Lake
  • Vermilion Lakes
  • Lake Louise
  • Lake Agnes
  • Moraine Lake
Jasper National Park in Alberta
Jasper National Park is the largest national park. It was named after Jasper Hawes, who operated a trading post in the region for the North West Company. You can go hiking, camping, river rafting, and tubing in this park. You can also explore the Glacier Skywalk, which is a glass-floored observation platform that is more than 900 feet above the ground. It also juts out 100 feet from the side of a cliff. It allows you to see white-capped peaks and glacier-carved valleys. If you enjoy wildlife, there are wildlife tours. There are a variety of animals at Jasper National Park, which includes:
  • Elk
  • Moose
  • Caribou
  • Grizzly bears
  • Black bears
  • Beavers
  • Wolves
  • Wolverines
Yoho National Park in British Columbia
This park was created after a trip by Prime Minister John A. Macdonald and his wife through the Rockies on the newly-completed Transcontinental Railroad. In 1886, he created the national park. You can visit the Yoho National Park Visitor Centre where you can learn all about the park. You can learn about the animals and plants that reside in the park, along with the history. A must-see attraction is the Natural Bridge--a natural rock formation that spans the flow of the Kicking Horse River. Emerald Lake is also a top destination. There is plenty to do at Yoho National Park, so you won't get bored.
  • Hike
  • Canoe
  • Rowboat
  • Fish

Brave souls also swim in the lake but the water is extremely cold. On the way to Emerald Lake, you can spot the Natural Bridge.

These are just three of many national parks in Canada. It's best to find the national park that best fits your interests--some parks have better paths for biking, while others have lakes for kayaking. Do your research to find what national park is your best fit, but regardless of where you go, you’ll definitely be amazed by the beauty of Canada’s outdoors. What are you waiting for? Visit now!
