PetSmart Canada Holds 'Gotcha Day' Events for Homeless Pets

via PixabayPetSmart Canada held various events across the country this past weekend, all with one goal: to find homes for nearly 600 homeless pets. "Gotcha Day" encourages new owners to share photos of the moment they adopt their animal, in the hopes that the trend goes viral via social media.
From September 11th to the 13th, PetSmart chains all over Canada allowed people to adopt animals from their stores, with the help of over 100 animal welfare groups. These groups were on-site matching visitors with pets that fit their wants and needs, as part of September National Adoption Weekend.

According to an article on Van City Buzz, you can save two lives when you adopt a pet. Of course, you'll be rescuing the animal you take home, but you'll also be making space for another animal at the shelter or rescue centre. Even though this wonderful event took place this past weekend, you can always adopt an animal if you're interested. Just contact your local PetSmart or adoption shelter and find an animal that could use your help.

Also, feel free to get in on the viral action and post your very own #GotchaDay photo to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!
