Painting is a great way to personalize any room. But sometimes, you may not have the time or the skills to do the job the way you want. If this is the case, you might consider hiring a professional painter. Professional painters will paint your house with skill and will prep your house accordingly. But what should you look for in a professional painter? Here are some tips on
selecting a painter.
Get multiple estimates
Just like moving companies, you should look at multiple painters before selecting one. A great way to find a good company is to ask your family and friends for any recommendations. When you find a few companies that you like, you should see if that they will do an in-home estimate so you can get an accurate price quote, and get that quote in writing. It should include a breakdown of labor, material costs, the number of
coats of paint, and a detailed description of the amount of surface preparation that will done.
Check references
Once you’ve found a few prospective painters, make sure that they are both licensed and insured. If they have any references, make sure to check them out. Ask for photos of
their work, You don’t want to hire blindly. This is your house and you’ll want it to look nice.
Pay in thirds
You should pay your painter in increments of three. Your first payment should be the deposit (roughly 10 percent) when you first sign the contract. Then, during the middle of the project, you should pay another third. Then the pay the final amount when the job is complete and all the materials have been cleared and cleaned up.
