You should also try painting your walls a lighter colour. With darker colours, it will absorb the light instead of reflecting it, and it make it feel smaller. This also goes for your floors.

 

An easy tip to make a room feel larger is to pull your furniture a few inches from the wall. When you push your furniture (like couches and chairs) against the walls, it will make the room feel cramped. You can even utilize those few inches with a table.  Another idea is to get furniture that has hidden storage. You’ll be able to keep more items in the room but it won’t feel cluttered. Like paint, you should hang shelves towards the ceilings because it will draw your eye up there, hence making the room feel larger.

 

Mirrors are one of the easiest ways to make a room feel larger. You shouldn’t cover your room floor to ceiling with mirrors, but a few strategically placed ones would do wonders. If you have windows, you should place a mirror across from a window. It will reflect light and make the room feel more open. Speaking of windows, you should keep your windows uncovered to give the room more depth. If you want curtains, you should opt for ones that are sheer and light-coloured.
