During Your Move, Moving Tips
Moving is a physically and emotionally arduous process, which is why following proper safety protocols on the day of your move is of the utmost importance.
Wear appropriate clothing
When
dressing for moving day, practicality and comfort should come first. Dress according to the weather and always wear sturdy shoes and thick socks. Gloves are also recommended to protect your hands and provide extra grip when carrying slippery or difficult belongings.
Pack a first-aid kitPreparation is key for moving day safety, so you should always
prep a first-aid kit before your move. In addition to bandages, disinfecting creams and other staples, pack over the counter medicine, tweezers, scissors, safety pins and medical tape.
Clear walkwaysAn easy way to avoid slips or falls is to clear walkways and other paths of any debris, especially in inclement weather. This goes for outdoor areas like driveways and sidewalks as well as indoor areas. In case of snow, salt all walkways and driveways.
Keep children and pets awayChildren and pets can easily get underfoot on moving day, causing potential harm to themselves or your movers. During your move, either keep children and pets in a separate room or hire a sitter to take them away from the moving process altogether.
Use common senseMost importantly, use your common sense. Do not carry more than you can handle, walk slowly and carefully when moving heavy or unwieldy items and always lift with your knees.
