With features you'd only expect in the highest end luxury mansion, these public restrooms go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that their visitors have the cleanest and fanciest experiences. The contenders range from a washroom in a 4-star hotel in Montreal, to a gas station bathroom along the Alaskan Highway. After reading about all of these amenities, you'll be left wondering why you haven't yet
upgraded the bathrooms in your own home.
W Montreal, Montreal, Quebec
This hotel restroom features a hand carved stone sink, and classic faucets that pour water over a basin lined with large rounded rocks. It gives an illusion that you're standing in front of a gentle stream, and the whole room is perfumed with the signature W fragrance.
Sauce Italian Kitchen & Market, Calgary, Alberta
The first thing you'll notice upon entering this washroom is the bronze sculpted handle on the solid wood door. The stalls are enclosed by proper walls and white glass doors with polished chrome hardware. The fixtures are touch-less and the vanity has an extra ledge to set a purse or bag.
Assiniboine Park Lyric Theatre, Winnipeg, Manitoba
This outdoor theatre doesn't subject it's visitors to the suffering that is using a port-o-potty. The bathrooms here are built inside re-purposed shipping containers. The modern design and clean, simple primary colors add to the natural beauty of the park. This design won the 2014 AZ Award for Design and Excellence and the 2014 Prairie Design Award of Excellence.
Whitecourt Esso Super Station, Whitecourt, Alberta
Who would ever guess that there was a gas station restroom you actually want to use? This Esso station went all out with the artistic modern design that uses decorative overhead lighting, subway and mosaic tiles, and straight and curved lines on the countertop for a classy touch.
East Village, Calgary, Alberta
The exterior is covered in urban murals while the inside boasts $125,000 worth of technology. They are self-cleaning and offer touch-less flushing, hand washing and drying. The most exciting feature is the toilet that emerges from inside the wall. Music plays when the door is closed and locked, but to prevent loitering, the doors automatically open after 10 minutes.
Which of these features would you love to install right in your own home? Let us know in the comments!
