Easy Ways to Improve your Kitchen

The kitchen is a tricky room to organise because there are so many things that belong there--but not enough places to put them. If you're looking for some easy ways to make your kitchen easier to navigate, read on for tips to improve your organization.

Corral the canned goods

Do you have an arsenal of cans in your pantry taking up unnecessary space? Transform an empty soda box into a soup can holder. You'll be able to save some valuable space in a small pantry with this quick and easy tip.

If you want to take the extra step, you can easily cover the box in wrapping paper or even duct tape to make it more visually appealing. A magazine holder could also be used for shorter cans to save space. Pretty soon you'll go from messy pantry to organised sanctuary.

Tension rods will save you from tension headaches

If you store your baking sheets in a cabinet, it's likely that they're stacked atop one another. Instead of piling them that way, insert tension rods vertically in your cabinets to create dividers, then file your baking pans and sheet trays neatly.

Double-decker storage

Create a shelf within a shelf in your dish cabinet with a magazine holder or with actual double-decker shelf inserts from your local home goods store. The cabinet inserts allow you to utilize more vertical space in the cabinet without putting your precious teacups at risk from stacking.

Use pockets for organisation

Looking for more storage in your pantry? Attaching a shoe organiser to the back of your pantry door will allow you to store spices, baking mixes, utensils or anything else you might need right on the back of the door without taking up square footage in the pantry itself.

These shoe organisers are also great for storing cleaning supplies in closets or even under the sink if you cut them in half.

TIP: Make a kid zone with snacks and juice boxes that are easily within reach of little hands when hunger strikes!

Be less lazy with a lazy Susan

Put a lazy Susan inside your fridge and corner cabinets so you can easily get to all the miscellaneous sauces and condiments that are hiding from you. Now you'll never have to wonder why you ended up with three bottles of mustard, six jars of salsa and a tub of something unrecognisable.

The lazy Susan will let you reach everything that's in the deep dark corners of your fridge and cabinet so you can use up everything--which will not only let you make the most of your food, but will save you money in the long run with less waste.
