Similar to packing wine glasses, wrapping and packing martini glasses for your move will require care and precision to ensure that they arrive at your new home without any damage.
Learn how to successfully navigate this moving task below!
Supplies
Before you can begin to wrap and pack your martini glasses, you will need to collect supplies. Make sure you have on hand:
- A sturdy moving box
- A cell box (which can be purchased from a moving supply company)
- Packing paper
- Bubble wrap
- Packing tape
- A permanent marker
The wrapping process
After you have collected everything you need to wrap and pack your martini glasses, it's time to move onto the first step--wrapping.
- Prep the martini glass. Fill in the space inside the martini glass with crumpled packing paper.
- Wrap the glass. Lay the martini glass on its side on the corner of a sheet of packing paper. Roll the paper over and around your glass until you reach the end of the paper. Tuck in the excess packing paper around the base and over the rim of the martini glasses.
- Wrap it again. Wrap the entire bundle you have created with bubble wrap and secure with tape.
- Repeat this process for all your martini glasses.
The packing process
The last step is the actual packing. Read: the end of your martini glass journey is near.
- Secure the moving box. To prevent something terrible from happening, reinforce the bottom of the moving box with packing tape. The last thing you need is for your box to fall open while being moved, which could seriously destroy your martini glasses.
- Place and pack the cell box. Place the cell box inside your moving box if it did not come assembled together. At the bottom of each individual cell, place a piece of crumpled packing paper for cushioning.
- Add the martini glasses. In each of these individual cells, add a wrapped martini glass with the rim of the glass facing up toward the top of the box as you would store them on a shelf.
- Fill the empty space. If any empty/open areas remain, fill them with crumpled packing paper or bubble wrap. This includes the space between the top of the cell box and the lid of the moving box. The goal is for your martini glasses to be so secure that they do not have any room to shift during your move.
- Seal the box. Once the martini glasses are secure, seal the top of the box with more packing tape.
- Label the box. Finally, using that permanent marker, label the box clearly and legibly on the top and several sides with the words: "FRAGILE: MARTINI GLASSES." Also note which way the box must be carried and moved, with an arrow explaining, "THIS SIDE UP." Last but not least, write where in your home the box should be placed.
TIP: To save money during packing, you can make your own cell box with items you probably already have on hand for packing and wrapping purposes.
