Packing a kitchen and all its accompanying gadgets and gizmos in the midst of moving is a time-consuming task. Thankfully, wrapping certain kitchen supplies and accessories will be easier than others.

Take for example your pots and pans, which are pretty straightforward items to pack and wrap for your upcoming move. With just a few supplies, you'll have these essential cooking tools packed up and ready to go in no time!

Supplies

To pack your pots and pans, you will need to have on hand:
  • Medium-sized moving boxes
  • Packing paper
  • Packing tape
  • A permanent marker

The packing process

Once your supplies are procured and ready to go, it's time to start packing!
  • Reinforce the bottom of the box. To ensure that the box does not fall open during the moving process and scatter your pots and pans (which can cause dents and dings), reinforce the bottom of the moving box with packing tape before you begin.
  • Layer the box with packing paper. To provide cushion for the pots and pans, layer the bottom of the moving box with crushed packing paper.
  • Wrap each pot and pan. On a clean, empty surface, wrap each individual pot and pan in packing paper.
  • Nest them inside each other. To save on space in your moving box, you will want to nest the individually wrapped pots and pans inside each other. Start with the largest wrapped pot and place the next smallest pot inside that one. Continue nesting until all your pots are inside one another. Repeat this process with the pans.
  • Wrap the whole shebang. Once all your pots and pans are nested, wrap each bundle once more in packing paper.
  • Wrap the lids. As you did with the pots and pans, wrap the pot and pan lids individually in packing paper. Then stack all the wrapped lids next to one another and wrap the whole bundle as a unit with more packing paper.
  • Pack the box. Now that you've wrapped everything, you can officially pack it in your moving box.
    • Pots and pans can now be placed in the bottom of the box.
    • Lids may be placed in the remaining space inside the moving box on their side as if you were storing records.
  • Fill in all the empty spaces. After your pots and pans and their respective lids have been placed inside the moving box, pack any remaining empty spaces with more packing paper to stop the contents of the box from shifting during the course of your move.
  • Seal and label it. Finally, seal the lid of the box with packing tape and clearly label the top and at least two of the sides with the contents of the box and where it should be moved to in your new home.

TIP: If there is any extra space left over in the smallest nested pot after it has been wrapped, consider filling it with small items like spices from your spice rack to save on and take advantage of valuable moving space.
