After a move, the last thing you want to think about is spending a ton of money decorating. However, the kitchen is the heart of every home and you're going to be spending quite a bit of time in there--why not make it a place that you'll enjoy?
Here are some inexpensive ways to decorate the kitchen after you move.
Paint
What better way to spruce up your new home home's kitchen than with a little colour? Maybe your rental is boring beige or the cabinets in your new home need some updating - a fresh coat of paint can easily do the job.
A bold colour or simple pattern can make a world of difference when it comes to your kitchen--even if the only space you have to paint is the six-inch backsplash, it could make a huge impact.
Besides the walls, another area to paint is the interior of the cabinets. It doesn't matter if your cabinets have a glass front-- painting the back wall of your cabinets a cheerful colour could be just the pop you need.
DIY magnets
If the movers weren't so careful with some of your items, and caused damage, a simple thing to do with that item is repurpose it. All you need to make your own refrigerator magnets is a bit of superglue or a hot glue gun and some plain magnet discs. Just secure the magnet disc to the back of the item, allow it to dry and voila - magnets!

Menu board
It doesn't necessarily have to be a menu board, but a sign, chalkboard or other decorative piece of artwork to hang in your kitchen will take you one step closer to feeling like it's your place. A simple message board for writing grocery lists or reminders with a colourful frame might be all you need to perk up a dull kitchen.
Cute towels
You might just think of buying basic kitchen towels, or keeping the ones you've had forever, but why not purchase some colorful kitchen towels? With hundreds of colours to choose from, it will be easy to coordinate your kitchen decor with your dining room, the seasons or holidays. If you don't plan on switching out your tea towels as the season's change, maybe a few punny towels will do the trick for you.
Window garden
Adding a window garden will bring life to your new kitchen. It's an inexpensive way to bring the outdoors in and depending on what you plant, it will add colour and flavor to your kitchen as well. A small pot filled with your favourite herbs or a window box with colourful buds can brighten your day as you're cleaning up dishes or cooking your Sunday dinner.
