DIY Projects to Keep Busy During the Cold

With winter weather here to stay, staying indoors is on the top of everyone's to-do list. But staying indoors doesn't have to be a bore. Instead of just cuddling up on the couch, which is enticing, tackle one or two of these easy DIY projects by yourself or with your kids to keep busy during the cold! 

DIY personalized tea cups

This simple DIY project allows you to wear your heart on your mug this winter. All you need is a plain, white mug and a paint" permanent marker. Draw your design or write your message on the teacup and bake it in the oven at 175 degrees Celsius for 30-35 minutes and the message will be set. Be careful when handling the mugs after they're baked because they will be hot! It's recommended that these mugs are hand-washed so the message lasts longer. 

Personalize your keys
If you carry a lot of keys in your pocket that all look the same, it can easily become frustrating to lock up when you're in a rush. Instead of struggling to figure out which key goes to which lock, personalize the keys you have some nail polish. Grab a few of your favourite nail colours and paint the tops of the keys. Let them dry for a while before putting them back on the key ring and voila! Now you'll never have to fumble with your keys again. 

DIY snow globe
If you're really in need of some snow inside your home, make your own snow globe. All you need is an empty jar, some glitter, a hot glue gun and a plastic miniature figure. Just hot glue the plastic figure to the clean lid of the jar and allow it to dry and sit in place. Pour a tablespoon or two of glitter into the bottom of the jar and then fill the jar with water until it's about 90-95 percent full -- there needs to be enough room for the figure. Carefully put the lid on the jar and tightly seal it before turning the snow globe over and releasing all the glitter. Now you have your own indoor winter wonderland!
