United States company GE (General Electric) has
announced the shutdown of its Wisconsin based factory -- which manufactures gas engines -- revealing plans to build a $265 million factory in Canada over the next 20 months.
While this means a loss of 350 jobs in the States, it does mean 350 more jobs in Canada.
Revealed a spokesperson, "In exchange for moving the production from Waukesha, Wisconsin, Export Development Canada will provide financing support for a range of future products, including some still made in the United States."
"
These are expected to come from GE's Water & Power, Oil & Gas and Transportation units."
No word yet on where the factory will open, but based on recent statistics
some provinces need the job growth more than others.
