Nova Scotian Man Breaks Into House and Hangs Out

via ThinkstockChristopher Hiscock, a thirty-three year old man from Nova Scotia, was on a cross-country journey. Driving by a ranch in Little Fort, British Columbia, he realized the door was open. So, what did he do?

He stopped his vehicle and walked in. But he didn't stop there--he also started doing chores. Hiscock took some meat out of the freezer to thaw, showered and shaved, fed the cats and prepared himself a meal. He made himself extremely comfortable in the house he didn't own, and he even lit a fire in the fireplace and did a load of laundry.

A few hours later, the homeowners returned.

The couple, coming home from a night out, found the stranger lounging on their couch watching television. They immediately flagged down a police officer who was passing by, and had Hiscock arrested. The man plead guilty on Monday to being unlawfully in a dwelling, in addition to possessing stolen property. (The truck he was driving across country wasn't his, either.)

The most interesting aspect of this story, however, is the fact that Hiscock used the couple's toothbrushes to brush his teeth and wrote in the residents' diary. One of his entries read:

"Today was my first full day at the ranch. I fed the cats and horses. So much I can do here I have to remind myself to just relax and take my time. I don't feel alone here, I guess with 2 cats and 3 horses it's kinda hard to be alone. Last night I had a fire in the house. It was so peaceful. I slept like a little baby. I saw a picture in the basement on the wall of a man holding and weighing a fish on a boat. Looking at him I realized we look a lot alike, but I think I'm more handsome."

Lesson: Lock your doors, friends.
