Did You Know
Is there anything more satisfying than walking through the door of a new home that you helped design? On the other hand, staring down at a blank floor map can lead to a plethora of questions, headaches, and regrets. When building a home you have the chance to build a space that's perfect for you and your family. Just be sure to
avoid these common mistakes.
Get the right sized HVAC system
The HVAC system is a critical part of your new home. Make sure you select a unit that properly heats and cools your home. You want to avoid a unit that's too small, as it won't be able to heat or cool your house to the desired temperature, and you don't want to waste energy by purchasing one that's too large.
Don't forget about storage
Once you move into your new home you're going to want ample storage space. Make sure each bedroom has a closet. In addition, there should be a closet in each hallway.
Plan for the future
When building a home consider how long you plan on staying there. Think about if you plan on having children in the home, or if this is where you want to retire. This will help you determine a layout, how many bedrooms you need and what safety features to include.
Don't forget about lighting
Make sure you put in plenty of light fixtures and windows in your home so it's well lit.
Plan for your lifestyle
When planning the layout of your home, consider your lifestyle and where you and your family are likely to spend the majority of their time. For example, don't include a big at-home gym if you know you're not going to use it.
