Canada, #1 Place to Visit in 2017

Last week, The New York Times released its list of the 52 best places to go in 2017. Being big, beautiful and relatively cheap, Canada took the top spot. The list described Canada as "a world unto itself" with "cosmopolitan cities, barely explored natural wonders, and everything in between." And let's not forget the sexiest Prime Minister ever. Who wouldn't want to come here?

150th anniversary

If you ever were to visit Canada, this would be the year. In honor of our 150th anniversary of confederation, we're rolling out the welcome mat. More than 200 national parks and historic sites are offering free admission throughout the year, including the turquoise lakes and mountain peaks of Banff in Alberta and the rolling dunes and sandstone cliffs of prince Edward Island. The newest reserve, Mealy Mountains in Labrador, is also taking part.

Ottawa is holding a full year of celebration and even more events will be offered in Montreal, which is turning 375 this year. Not to mention that for American travellers, the weak loonie and current exchange rate means they can get more for their money, making 2017 the ideal time to come up north.

Even Justin Trudeau agrees.
