Easy Halloween Costumes Made From Moving Boxes

Did you recently move? If your home is littered with empty cardboard cartons, try these super cheap and simple DIY Halloween costume ideas!

Robot

Create your own robot costume using several moving boxes. Cut off the bottom flaps and cut a neck and arm holes in one large box for the body, and place a smaller box on your head, with small holes cut out for your eyes and mouth. Use round household items like a bowl to trace and cut the perfect circle -- a box cutter will work well for this task. Decorate the costume with paint, and add a face, knobs, and controls to your robot.

Favourite candy

Dress as your favourite junk food with this super easy costume idea.  Remove the bottom flaps and cut two arm holes and one head opening in a jumbo moving box -- make sure it is large enough to fit your body! An appliance box would work well for this costume. Using a picture of your favourite candy logo for reference -- such as M&M’s, Good n' Plenty, Skittles or Reese's -- recreate the design with acrylic paint.

Rubix cube
This colourful costume is simple to create and fun to wear. Dress as everyone’s favourite mind game with a large moving box and coloured construction paper. Simply paint your box black and add squares of each Rubix cube colour -- white, red, blue, orange, green, and yellow.

Barbie in a box
Though a little more challenging, this costume will certainly be the most unique at your party! You’ll need a tall box -- nearly the height of the person wearing it (again, an appliance box should work well). Cut out the front of the box and spray paint it pink and white, using an image of an actual Barbie box for reference. Create a harness out of straps so "Barbie" can wear the box on her shoulders by cutting slits in the cardboard and threading straps through them, securing with glue. Don a fashionable outfit and a blonde wig to complete the look -- make it a couple's costume by adding a Ken!
