Happy Cinco de Mayo! If you plan to celebrate this festive Mexican holiday with a margarita, you want to make sure your margarita glasses arrive in one piece. Whether you’re packing up your margarita glasses for a move or just to store them for the season, be sure to follow these tips to keep them safe and ready to be filled with tequila.
Wrapping margarita glasses:
- Make a cell box. Cell boxes are custom cartons with cardboard dividers to keep fragile glassware stationary. However, you can make one yourself--just gather a couple of old cardboard containers and follow a few simple instructions.
- Wrap each glass individually. Use packing paper or unprinted newsprint to wrap each glass, tucking excess paper inside.
- Put extra padding. Place a ball of crumpled paper at the bottom of each cell for extra cushioning, and place each glass inside, top first.
- Tape and label securely. Label your box “Margarita glasses”, “Fragile” and “This side up” clearly in prominent marker and tape both the top and bottom of the carton securely with sturdy packing tape.
