Interior Design Trends for 2016

Every once in a while, it's a great idea to spruce up your home's decor. With spring quickly approaching, now's the perfect time to start. House Beautiful has some interior design trends for 2016 that we think will certainly inspire you and your home. 

Home decor inspiration

Pedestal tables
A small side table is always useful, but instead of choosing a clunky and heavy side table, why not choose a delicate pedestal table? With so many varieties, you can add a bit of glam style or rustic flair to your living room (or any room) in an instant. 

Mixing metals
Love metallic colours? Now you don't even have to commit to just one shade of metal, you can mix them all without fear. Copper, rose gold, silver -- you name it, there's a fabric or paint colour to coordinate with it. And don't forget, you don't have to just incorporate colours with paint--you can add in colourful touches with your accessories as well. 

Using traditional tableware
Take a page from Grandma's style and her traditional serving platter--that iconic tray is going to be big this year in terms of a tablescape. Use your vintage and traditional dishes on your table as fruit bowls or as a decorative feature this to add a bit of retro glam or classic charm to your everyday home decor. 

Pendant lamps
Builder-grade room lighting is very bland most of the time. Undermounted light fixtures are more for utility and function than style, so let's change them. Pendant lamps might make you think of the 70s with hanging chains and amber colouring, but they are colourful, stylish and easy to install. Chandeliers are also fabulous, but make 2016 the year of the pendant lamp.
