How to Remain Calm on Moving Day

Staying calm on a day as stressful as moving day is not easy--luckily, there are plenty of ways to stay sane throughout the course of this chaotic day--especially by making proper preparations in advance. Check out these helpful tips to keep your cool during your relocation.

Get a good night's sleep
Moving day is draining. Attempting to trudge through the experience with several hours of uneven slumber will leave you feeling cranky and edgy. Although you may be anxious on moving eve and have difficulty falling asleep, receiving a full eight hours will ensure you are in good spirits on the big day.

Eat a nutritious breakfast

A healthy breakfast is important for your mental stability, physical strength, and emotional well-being. No matter how busy you are, a cup of coffee isn't a sufficient way to start your day. Protein and healthy carbs, like whole wheat toast or oatmeal, are especially important for strength and energy.

Make sure everything is packed and ready to go
Moving day morning is not the best time for last minute packing tasks. Every item in your home should be packed and ready to go no later than the day before it's time to leave. Procrastination has no place in a move--unless you want it to be the worst day of your life.

Prepare for the car trip
Have a long journey ahead of you to your new home? Road trips can be particularly nerve-wracking--especially with kids in the car. You're in the final stretch now, so make it through your car trip like every other part of your move--by properly planning. Pack easy-to-eat meals, toys to entertain your kids, and your first-night essentials in your vehicle for a calm, anxiety-free trip to your new home
