Canada Wins Hockey World Cup, Beating Europe

Hockey and Canada go together like Tim Hortons coffee and doughnuts. With their 22 Olympic medals, Canada now can add World Cup to their collection.

They were down a goal against Team Europe with just three minutes left on the clock. But that didn’t intimidate them. They went into full-power mode after that. Patrice Bergeron tied the game on a power play. Brad Marchand scored the winning goal with 43.1 seconds left.

"They're addicted to winning and they just make it happen," Canada coach Mike Babcock said to ABC News.

The MVP of the game was Sidney Crosby, who led the tournament in scoring with 10 points. He now has a Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy, World Cup, and World Cup MVP award under his belt.

“Crazy the way everything worked out,” Crosby said after the game said to the New York Times. “Pretty unbelievable feeling considering how hard we had to work tonight. They blocked a lot of shots. It’s special.”

Team Europe consisted of players from eight European countries. The win the World Cup it was best out of three games and Canada had already won a game. Canada also entered the game with a 5-0 record. Team  Europe couldn’t stand up against the fury of Canada but at least they went down fighting.
