Cape Breton is currently experiencing a sharp decline in population, but since the website launched, there have been over 50,000 inquiries from U.S. citizens seeking sanctuary and the CEO of Destination Cape Breton has hired five extra employees to deal with the flood of phone calls.

Traffic to Cape Breton real estate pages have also jumped, from around 200 pages a day to a whopping 20,000.
