Canadian citizens prefer to shop in actual stores
According to Statistics Canada, Canadians would rather head to the mall than do their holiday shopping online. Canadian shoppers spend an estimated $3.2 billion dollars in department stores during the holiday season.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is a Canadian
While an American company produced this beloved Claymation holiday film, nearly all of the characters' -- Rudolph included -- were voiced by Canadian actors. The only exception is Burl Ives, who voiced the singing snowman Sam.
Much of A Christmas Story was filmed in Canada
The classic holiday flick about a disgruntled middle schooler's family life during Christmas in the 1940s is a favourite among generations. However, the all-American story was actually shot in Canada for multiple scenes -- including the school and the infamous Chinese restaurant.
Canada is a major exporter of Christmas trees
Harvesting approximately five million trees ever year, Canada does pretty well for itself during the holiday season. Not only are trees enjoyed by million of Canadian families -- the country exports them to over 25 countries, including the U.S., Mexico and Japan.
