How to Organize Your Garage



Everyone has that one drawer in their house where you throw items that don’t really have a place. It’s usually referred to as the “junk drawer.” This also tends to happen with your garage.  Your garage tends to be full boxes that consist of holiday decorations, old clothes, tools, and pretty much whatever else you don’t want in your house. Garages are meant to store your car but usually, people don’t have the room for that.  To better utilize your garage space, here are some tips to organizing your garage.
 

Clean out garage

Your first step of organizing your garage to first clean it out. Go through all the boxes and get rid of any broken or unused items. It’ll be much easier to organize less items. Also, you the items you don’t want, you can hold a garage sale and sell them. Not only will you be organizing your garage, you’ll be able to make extra cash selling your old stuff.
 
Utilize wall and ceiling space
For your walls, install pegboards. They are made of sturdy materials and rows of holes. In the holes, you attach hooks and you could hang various things from the hooks. From tools, to scissors, even installing shelves to hold more items. With the ceiling, you could hang bikes with hooks attached the ceiling. You can also hang shelving on the ceiling, where you can store even more items. 
 
Utilize shelves
Building shelves are a great way to get objects off the floor and organize them better.  You can either purchase or build your own shelves. You can assign each shelf to a category of items. This will allow you to organize items vertically more efficiently than just stacking boxes on top of each other. 
 
Use magnetic strips
A great way to organize your tools is to use magnetic strips. You just need to attach them to the wall and your tools will stick to it. You can put your wrenches, screwdrivers, and scissors. It will display all your tools so you’ll easily find what you need.
