Is Obama Really Planning to Move to Canada if Trump Wins?

As Donald Trump's campaign for the US presidency gains traction, claims of disgruntled Americans planning to flee to Canada have increased.
In March,
Vox polled voters and found that 27 percent said they were "very likely" (15 percent) or "somewhat likely" (12 percent) to leave the U.S.
Cape Breton Island even launched a tongue-in-cheek website
inviting Americans to live there if Trump wins, and
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau joked about the prospect.
But with all the buzz and
Google searches for the phrase "how to move to Canada," would you actually believe that current president Barack Obama would move his family north of the border if Trump takes the White House?
Well, you shouldn't.
The news article circulating online purporting that Obama plans to take refuge in Canada if Trump wins the presidency is a fake,
according to snopes.com.
On August 7, the Burrard Street Journal (or the BS Journal), a satirical parody web site,
published an article making the claim. However, the piece was then referenced as real news on various sites, including non-satirical (though often unreliable) sources such as the Conservative Daily Post.
So while many Americans fear a Trump win and may plan to flee north, there's no reason to assume Obama is planning the same--not yet anyway.
