"How to move to Canada" began trending yesterday in Google searches after Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump claimed victories in seven states during the Super Tuesday Republican primary vote, CNBC reported.
Trump beats Rubio and Cruz
NBC declared Trump was the clear winner Tuesday night after his victories in states like Virginia, Alabama, Georgia and Vermont among others beating out Republican candidates Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz.
Trump's primary win has sparked a renewed
interest in moving to Canada based on Google searches it seems. A quick search on Google will bring you to Canada's immigration page, working abroad programs and even a simple eight-step wiki guide for making the move to Canada.
Earlier this year, Cape Breton launched their own tourism marketing campaign poking fun at the real-estate-mogul-turned-presidential-candidate inviting American escapees the chance to start a new life on its shores just off the coast of Maine in Nova Scotia.
"Don't wait until Donald Trump is elected president to find somewhere else to live
," the Cape Breton website states. "Start now, that way, on election day, you just hop on a bus to start your new life in Cape Breton, where women can get abortions, Muslim people can roam freely, and the only 'walls' are holding up the roofs of our extremely affordable houses."
This spike in 'moving to Canada' web searches also comes at a time when the Canadian government is
making it easier to move to the Great White North. Minister John McCallum recently passed changes to the Citizenship Act that would restore citizenship to anyone previously affected and would also shorten the amount of time you would need to be physically present in Canada before qualifying.
So what do you think, will there be a mass exodus from America to Canada if Donald Trump in fact wins the presidential election? Let us know in the comments!
