Tips to Add Curb Appeal to Your Home

Whether you’re going to sell your home or just wanting to spruce it up, curb appeal is the way to go. Curb appeal is how visually beautiful your home is from - you guessed it - from the curb. If you’re trying to sell your home, curb appeal is a great way to get people to stop and look at your home. If they see it’s great from the outside, they can bet it’s great on the inside. A lot of homes don’t sell as quickly as they should mainly because the outside doesn’t look that great. Even if you don’t plan on selling your house, it will make you excited to go home when you see how beautiful the outside is. It will also make your home feel like a brand new house, just by upgrading the outside. Adding curb appeal doesn’t have to be expensive either. Here are some tips to add curb appeal to your home

Front door

Simply upgrading the front door will go a long way. A fresh coat of paint will instantly add life to the exterior of your home. A bold color is a good way to go. It will draw your eye to your home and it will feel more modern. There are even apps that allow you to preview the color before you decide. If you don’t want to paint your front door, giving it a good scrub down is just as good. It will make it look like a brand new door. Whether you’re painting or cleaning the front door, make sure to upgrade the hardware. You don’t have to buy new ones, just spray the old ones! Pick a nice contrasting color so they pop against your front door.

Power wash
You’ll be surprised how simply power washing the exterior of your home can make it look brand new. Power washing is a high pressure hose and gets rid of grim on various items. You can power wash bricks, wood decking, concrete, windows, vinyl, metal, etc. It can make your home look like it was freshly painted. Power washers are expensive but you can rent them. It’s worth it because your curb appeal will go up instantly.

Welcome mat
An easy and quick way to add little curb appeal to your home is upgrading your welcome mat. Most people buy one when they first move in and rarely replace it. Whenever someone wants to enter your home, they will see the welcome mat, so you’d want it to look nice. Welcome mats are inexpensive and they will do wonders for your curb appeal. There are various tutorials online in case you want to repurpose your welcome mat instead of buying a new one.

Plants
Plants will instantly help bring new life to the outside of your home. Plants and flowers come in a variety of shapes, colors, and sizes. If you don’t know how to garden, a simple potted plant by your front door will do wonders for your curb appeal. You can decorate the pot the plant is in for a personalize touch. If you know basic gardening skills, you can create a path with plants and that will help draw your eye towards your house. Window boxes are also a great way to bring your eye up to your house. They also bring color to boring windows.
